The JA Stock Market Challenge presented by Marathon is a fast-paced, hands-on competition that brings the thrill of the trading floor to high school students across our region. Before the event, students participate in classroom lessons that introduce them to the fundamentals of saving, investing, and how the stock market works. Then, they put that knowledge to the test in a high-energy, simulated trading environment.
On September 24, 2025, teams of four students will start with $500,000 in fictitious funds. Each trading day lasts just 60 seconds, simulating two months of market activity in under two hours. Students must analyze market trends, make quick investment decisions, and work together to maximize their return on investment (ROI). The team with the highest ROI at the end of 60 trading days will be crowned the JA Stock Market Challenge Champions!
Throughout the competition, students sharpen critical thinking, collaboration, and financial decision-making skills, key tools for lifelong success. They also get a firsthand look at the risks and rewards of investing in the stock market.

We're introducing the Investor Showdown for adults, a fun, high-stakes fundraiser where business and community leaders compete in their own stock market simulation. Proceeds will help send the top three student teams to the JA National Stock Market Challenge in Summer 2026.
